The Tarot Companion

Chapter 1 – Introducing the Tarot

Tarot is a system of archetypes, a picture-book of the human condition, reflecting our states of mind and stages of life. Over the past six hundred years, people have consulted the cards for religious instruction, spiritual insight, self-knowledge, and divining the future. The ancient symbols we see on the cards are designed to stimulate our intuition, connecting us with our higher selves or our divine or spiritual aspect.

Chapter 2 – Card Interpretations: The Major Arcana

A standard tarot deck has seventy-eight cards, divided into two groups: twenty-two major arcana cards and fifty-six minor arcana cards. The word arcana means secret. The major arcana denote important life events or shifts, while the minor arcana cards reflect day-to-day events. The minor arcana cards can be seen as being more detailed aspects of the major arcana cards.

Chapter 3 – Card Interpretations: The Minor Arcana

The remaining fifty-six cards are known collectively as the minor arcana, and they are arranged into four suits: Wands, Pentacles, Cups, and Swords. Each suit has fourteen cards, from Ace to Ten, plus four court cards: Page, Knight, Queen, and King.

Queen Of Wands

Key meanings: creativity and focus

Upright Meaning as A Person:

This Queen is often the card of the artisan, entrepreneur, counselor, organizer, or leader—the writer, producer, marketer, or business administrator: whatever relies upon spark and communication for success. Sociable and supportive, she is intensely loyal, just like her associated sign of Aries. This self-aware Queen is also in touch with her intuition, so she makes good choices in relationships. The Queen of Wands often loves nature and animals, too.

Upright Meaning As An Influence:

Ideas flourish, and you can now show others what you can do. This is no time for reticence; fire up your enthusiasm and express yourself. Reflect, also, on how you are managing your life just now, to make sure you have the time to make space for the opportunities coming your way. Overall, though, the Queen of Wands shows you will have the strength you need, and your relationships, too, are energized romance, friendships, family ties, and professional contacts.

As The ‘you’ Card In A Reading: Step in to your power.

Reversed Meaning

You may feel controlled when the Queen of Wands reverses due to others’ pointless interference. There is a great need for organization but disorder rules. This may be because you, or someone close, has taken on too much and cannot admit it. Consider if this is a pattern a way of avoiding being who you are, due to fear of rejection.

As a person, the reversed Queen of Wands breaks promises. She can be envious and does not want anyone around her to shine more brightly.

As An Influence: If two or more Queens fall close together

  1. Two Queens: Rivalry
  2. Three Queens: Helpful friends
  3. Four Queens: Women meeting up

A wonderful reference. The pictures are large with vibrant colors. I would reccomend this to anyone, tarot novices and advance practitioners alike.

I was a lot happier with this book than I expected to be. Even though I do wish the author had elaborated a little more on each card meaning (esp the reversals), the content was really well thought out and helpful. I’m finding myself reaching for it more often than any other tarot book I own. I’m very pleased with this book and highly recommend it. Side note: it’s really cute and II love the way it looks on my shelf!

This was an impulse purchase made late at night. I totally do NOT need another Tarot book. I literally have like 5 already. That being said, this has become one of my favorites! I keep it by my bedside for quick and accurate references

Very well made and perfect in every way.

The book focuses mostly on RWT but can be applied to any Tarot deck. It has RW tarot images in it. Upright & Reversed meanings for the cards. Nice, hardback, durable, made to last book.

This was exactly what I wanted. A basic but beautiful tarot book that gets to the point. You’ll be able to familiarize yourself with the cards better, understanding the language and developing your own style. I’ve bought a few other books, 78 degrees of wisdom… no, not for me, too new age and all over the place. This book is perfect.

An excellent guide for reading Tarot, and beautiful imagery.

  14. Emeli Dennin

This is a good book however, it’s meanings are targeted specifically to a classic deck. The descriptions are still useful but they go in depth with the cards art as well as its meaning behind it. Still, the descriptions on the cards are well executed and there’s both upright and reversed meanings to each card. In the beginning there is an introduction to you and your deck along with some spreads. This seems to be a fun book already that will help me better understand tarot as a whole but not so much the deck I’m using
